Head Coach Angel Mason

Angel Mason, a four-year member of Butler University's women's basketball team and a former professional basketball player in Reykjavik, Iceland, was named Head Women's Basketball Coach & Assistant Director of Athletics for Operations at Vassar College on June, 26, 2007.

Sharon Beverly, Director of Athletics & Physical Education, made the announcement.

Most recently, Mason served as Director of Sports Services at the Northeast Conference, where she was responsible for championship and regular season sport administration and served as the primary liaison to the league's Senior Woman Administrators.   Mason also supervised NEC officiating programs, coordinated awards programs and produced conference and sport handbooks.

Mason returns to Vassar where she served as Athletic Operations Manager from 2005-07, a position she earned as recipient of the NCAA Ethnic Minority and Women's Internship.   While at Vassar, Mason served an assistant women's basketball coach during the 2005-06 season. In her administrative duties, Mason assisted in sport administration for 25 sports and organized a number of league and regional championships. She also assisted with budgeting, facilities, compliance, scheduling, marketing and intramurals. In addition, she chaired the Department Diversity Committee, which developed a five-year strategic plan for the athletic program.

"We are extremely thrilled to have Angel Mason lead our women's basketball program," said Beverly. "Her basketball pedigree is strong as both a player and coach and her enthusiasm for the game is contagious. Her passion for the game will serve our student-athletes well as we embark on a new era in our program's history."

Mason is a 2004 graduate of Butler University with a Bachelor's degree in Communications Studies, and earned her Master's degree in Sports Management from California University of Pennsylvania. While a student at Butler, she was a four-year letter winner on the women's basketball team and was named to the Horizon League All-Defensive Team in 2004. As a senior, she started in 25 of 29 games and finished third on the team in rebounding and scoring. She also finished eighth in the league in steals and 16 th in rebounding. As a junior, she finished third on the team in scoring, second in rebounding and was named to the Fresno State Classic All-Tournament Team.

Mason served on Butler's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and was a student representative on the Horizon League Basketball Issues Committee for two years.

Prior to her appointment at Vassar, Mason served as a Marketing and Promotions Intern at Emmis Communications in Indianapolis, IN., and spent a year as a Communications Intern at the Horizon League. Mason also played and coach basketball professionally in Iceland during the 2004-05 season.

 

Assistant Coach Fallon Rehmert

Fallon Rehmert begins her first season as an assistant women's basketball coach. Rehmert, a Missouri native, spent her collegiate career at Maryville University in St. Louis. While at Maryille, Rehmert primarily played point guard and the two-guard position, while serving as captain her senior season.  

During her time as a three year starter at Maryville, the team saw tremendous success, which culminated with an NCAA Elite 8 finish in 2005. Rehmert helped lead the program to three consecutive NCAA's births, and was named All Conference her senior campaign. Rehmert's successes on the court were contagious in her approach to academics. She was named to the All Conference Academic team four straight years. In addition, she was named a National Collegiate Scholar.

Rehmert brings to Vassar her experience as an assistant coach for her alma mater, where she helped coach the team to its 4th straight NCAA appearance. Rehmert also was responsible for recruiting, film development, player and opposing team scouting, as well as maintaining all game statistics.

Rehmert is a 2005 Magna Cum Laude graduate, three year Dean's List graduate of Maryville University where she received her B.S. in Business Administration.
