UNION BASKETBALL TEAMS TAKE TWO AT VASSAR
Womenıs team improves to 12-0 with a 73-47 win, men win 75-58

 

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. ­ Freshman guard Erika Eisenhut (Mohawk, N.Y.) came off the bench to score 16 points to lead Union College to a 73-47 womenıs basketball Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association victory over Vassar College Saturday afternoon at the Athletic & Fitness Center.

 

Freshman forward Courtney Shephard (Pittsfield, Mass.) added 15 points, eight rebounds and five steals for Union (12-0, 3-0 UCAA). Emily Scott chipped in ten points and seven rebounds off of the bench. The Dutchwomen outshot the Brewers 70-47 and led 34-20 at halftime.

 

Vassar (3-7, 1-1 UCAA) was led by senior forward Lauren Kelly (Colchester, Conn.) with ten points. Sophomore guard Stacey Tiamfook (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added nine points and seven steals.

 

In the menıs contest, sophomore forward Devon Bruce (Altamont, N.Y.) scored a game-high 19 points and grabbed ten rebounds to lead Union to a 75-58 victory over Vassar in conference play.

 

Sophomore guard Jud Winton (San Francisco, Calif.) led Vassar (3-7, 0-2 UCAA) with 18 points. Sophomore guard Seth Taft (Philadelphia, Penn.) added 13 points off of the bench. Sophomore forward Matt Parker (Highland, N.Y.) had nine points and ten rebounds.

 

Senior forward Phil Henry (Flushing, N.Y.) tallied 15 points for Union (7-5, 2-1 UCAA). Freshman guard Brian Scordato (Mt. Kisco, N.Y.) added 14 points and six rebounds.

 

Vassar resumes conference play Tuesday evening at home against Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. The men play at 6 p.m., with the womenıs game to follow at 8 p.m.
