KACZYNSKI, SAUNDERS LEAD RPI WOMEN OVER VASSAR 79-61
Vassarıs Winton scores 29 in menıs loss to RPI 72-57
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. Sophomore guard Jud Winton (San Francisco, Calif.) scored a career-high 29 points in a 72-57 Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association defeat at the hands of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Tuesday evening at the Athletic & Fitness Center.
Wintonıs previous high was 27 points set at the beginning of the season. RPI (7-7, 1-2 UCAA) was led by freshman forward Tom Schneiderıs (Nashua, N.H.) 15 points and eight rebounds. Junior forward Jared Hite (Dorchester, Mass.) added 11 points, eight rebounds and five steals. Sophomore guard Paris Moore (Hempstead, N.Y.) chipped in 15 points for the Engineers.
Sophomore forward Matt Parker (Highland, N.Y.) added eight points for Vassar (3-8, 1-2 UCAA).
In the womenıs contest, sophomore guard Kaitlyn Saunders (Windsor, Conn.) scored 14 of her 20 points to lead RPI to a 79-61 conference victory over Vassar.
Junior guard Kristin Kaczynski (Pleasant Valley, Conn.) made eight of ten baskets for 20 points for RPI (8-4, 2-1 UCAA). Junior forward Caitlin Vestal (Harvard, Mass.) came off the bench to grab ten rebounds as the Engineers held a 46-37 edge over Vassar on the glass.
Vassar (3-8, 1-2 UCAA) was led by senior forward Carleen Aubee (Chepachet, R.I.) scored 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Sophomore guard Stacey Tiamfook (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added 12 points.
Vassar resumes conference play on Friday on the road against Saint Lawrence. The men play at 6 p.m., with the womenıs game to follow at 8 p.m.
