TO HOOPS WIN OVER SKIDMORE 65-61
Menıs team falls 75-46 in conference opener
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. Senior forward Carleen Aubee (Chepachet, R.I.) scored 17 points and grabbed a season-high 16 rebounds to lead Vassar College to a 65-61 womenıs basketball Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association victory over Skidmore College Friday evening at the Athletic & Fitness Center.
Vassar (3-6, 1-0 UCAA) trailed the Thoroughbreds 29-28 at halftime. Sophomore guard Stacey Tiamfook (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added 14 points and four steals for the Brewers. Freshman guard Natalie Serkowski (Clinton Corners, N.Y.) chipped in 13 points and eight rebounds. Aubee led Vassar with seven assists.
Freshman center Lauren Jones (Winsted, Conn.) came off the bench to pace Skidmore (5-8, 0-2 UCAA) with 15 points on 7-for 11 shooting. Sophomore guard Lisa Mason (Herkimer, N.Y.) had 12 points, while freshman forward Catherine Bronson (Potsdam, N.Y.) added 12 points for the Thoroughbreds.
In the menıs contest, sophomore guard Dana Martin (Stowe, Vt.) scored 16 points and dished out five assists to lead Skidmore to a 75-46 victory over Vassar in conference play.
Sophomore guard Jud Winton (San Francisco, Calif.) led the Brewers (3-6, 0-1 UCAA) with 19 points and six rebounds. Senior guard Brian Snodgrass (Holmdel, N.J.) added nine points.
Sophomore guard Mike Murray (Hillsdale, N.J.) added 14 points and sophomore forward Fran Murray (Barrington, R.I.) chipped in 12 points, five assists and four steals for Skidmore (8-3, 2-0 UCAA).
Vassar resumes conference play Saturday afternoon against Union College. The men play at 2 p.m., with the womenıs game to follow at 4 p.m.
