 In 1984, fencing became a varsity sport at Vassar and, in 1999, sabre was added.
Since 1998-99, the Brewers have competed in the prestigious Intercollegiate Fencing Association, which includes Ivy League schools such as Harvard, the 2006 NCAA Champion.
Recent standouts have qualified for NCAA regional and national championships.
