TURCOT LIFTS HAMILTON OVER VASSAR IN FIELD HOCKEY
Penalty stroke ends VC comeback, Continentals win 4-3

 

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Senior midfielder Erin Turcot (Essex Junction, Vt.) converted a penalty stroke with five seconds remaining in regulation to lead Hamilton College to a 4-3 Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association field hockey victory over Vassar College Saturday afternoon at Prentiss Field.

 

Trailing 3-1 in the second half, freshman forward Alexis Barbalinardo (Upper Montclair, N.J.) sparked a late Vassar rally with a goal and set up senior midfielder Ellen Ridyard's (Jenkintown, Penn.) score to knot the game at 3-3. Senior defender Maureen Kenealy (Wellesley, Mass.) tallied Vassaršs first goal just 3:54 into the first half.

 

Senior forward Amy Mills (Amesbury, Mass.) paced Hamilton (4-10, 2-5 UCAA) with two goals. Senior Sarah Baldwin (Ithaca, N.Y.) made eight saves.

 

Senior Tara Trifon (Coronado, Calif.) collected eight saves for Vassar (3-12, 1-6 UCAA).
