MANHATTANVILLE DEFEATS VASSAR 4-2 IN FIELD HOCKEY
Valiants snap streak against VC,
Kenealy ties career assist record in loss

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Freshman midfielder Meagan Caminiti (Bayport, N.Y.) broke a 2-2 tie with less than five minutes remaining to lead Manhattanville College to a 4-2 non-conference field hockey victory over Vassar College Monday afternoon at Prentiss Field.

Manhattanville (11-7) built a 2-0 lead in the first half on goals by sophomore forward Ali Van Horn (Allentown, N.J.) at 13:56 and 33:13. A sprawling save by sophomore Tara Trifon (Coronado, Calif.) and a defensive save by senior defender Maureen Kenealy (Wellesley, Mass.) kept the Valiants from adding to the lead.

Kenealy assisted a goal by senior forward Sarah Margolis-Pineo (Portland, Maine) 7:36 into the second half for Vassar. The assist was the 12th of her career tying the VC record. After a key defensive save by senior defender Nikki Li (La Jolla, Calif.), junior midfielder Emily Learner (Hollis, N.H.) knotted the game at 2-2 with a goal at 57:34.

The Valiants pressed late outshooting Vassar 10-3 in the half and 25-11 for the game. Sophomore midfielder Dionne Jones (Wind Gap, Penn.) tacked on a goal off of a penalty corner for the 4-2 final. The win was the first in seven games for the Valiants against Vassar.

Junior April Yeomans (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) made five saves for Manhattanville. Trifon collected eight saves for Vassar (3-13).
