NEW PALTZ DEFEATS VASSAR 6-4
Ridyard scores a goal, assists two others in loss

 

NEW PALTZ, N.Y. -- Sophomore attacker Patricia Erikson (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) scored two goals and assisted on another to lead SUNY New Paltz to a 6-4 non-conference field hockey victory over Vassar College at Dietz Stadium Wednesday evening.

 

New Paltz (2-3) led 3-1 at the half. Senior midfielder Ellen Ridyard (Jenkintown, Penn.) led Vassar (0-4) with a goal and two assists.

 

Senior goaltender Tara Trifon (Coronado, Calif.) combined with junior Sharla Alegria (No. Dighton, Mass.) to make ten saves for the Brewers.

 

Junior midfielder Emily Learner (Hollis, N.H.), freshman midfielder Hope Crocker (Concord, Mass.), and senior forward Sarah Margolis-Pineo (Portland, Maine) scored a goal a piece for Vassar.

 

Vassar plays Swarthmore at Wellesley Saturday at 11 a.m. in the first round of the Seven Sisters Tournament.
