SKIDMORE SWEEPS VASSAR LAX TEAMS
Women win 21-6, while Thoroughbred men win 21-9

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. --Freshman midfielder Tommy Spinella (New Hartford, N.Y.) scored four goals and added four assists to lead Skidmore College to a 21-9 Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association men's lacrosse victory over Vassar College at Prentiss Field Saturday afternoon.

 

Spinella tallied two goals in the first quarter to stake Skidmore (4-3, 1-0 UCAA) to an 8-0 lead. Senior attacker Rick Wright (Wayland, Mass.) added four goals and two assists.

 

Vassar (2-1, 0-1 UCAA) was led by freshman attacker Zach Winkler (West Islip, N.Y.), junior attacker Tom Boardman (Brattleboro, Vt.), and junior attacker Pat McAlpine (Centerport, N.Y.) with three goals apiece.

 

Freshman Will Noll (Baltimore, Md.) made ten saves for the Brewers. Freshmen Cory Sylvester (Littleton, Colo.) and Patrick Bouman (No. Olmsted, Ohio) combined to make 12 saves for Skidmore.

 

In the womenıs game, senior attacker Manuella DeBarros (New York, N.Y.) scored six goals and freshman midfielder Annie Ledyard (W. Grove, Penn.) added four goals and five assists to lead Skidmore to a 21-6 victory over Vassar.

 

Vassar (2-5, 0-2 UCAA) was led by freshman midfielder Jessica Johnson (Denver, Colo.) with three goals.

 

Junior Sarah Lackey (Brick, N.J.) made 13 saves for the Brewers. Freshman Sarah Berheide (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) collected 11 saves for Skidmore (4-0, 2-0 UCAA).
