SUNY MARITIME DEFEATS VASSAR 16-6 IN MEN'S LACROSSE
Souhrada leads Privateers to win with six goals

 

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Freshman midfielder Tom Souhrada (Bay Shore, N.Y.) scored six goals and added an assist to lead SUNY Maritime to a 16-6 non-conference men's lacrosse victory over Vassar College Wednesday afternoon at Prentiss Field.

 

Vassar (2-7) opened the game with goals by senior midfielder Dan Harris (Shaker Heights, Ohio) and junior midfielder Justin Schrager (Santa Maria, Calif.). Souhrada scored the next goal, before the Privateers picked up two more scores to close out the period leading 3-2. Souhrada went on to score four more times in the second period as the Privateers built an 8-4 lead at the half.

 

Sophomore midfielder Joe Coughlin (Bay Shore, N.Y.) and freshman attacker Kevin Swift (New Market, Md.) had three goals and three assists apiece for NY Maritime (2-9). Schrager and junior attacker Pat McAlpine (Centerport, N.Y.) added a pair each for the Brewers.

 

Freshman Will Noll (Baltimore, Md.) made 17 saves for Vassar. Seniors Chris Maro (So. Huntington, N.Y.) and Blake Wawrenzenki (Mastic, N.Y.) combined for 15 saves for the Privateers.
