Vassar College Women 87 v Rutgers University Women 0
Tries: Larkin Sealy (3), Sarah Turbett (1), Dana Wasserman (1), Julie Half (2), Val Griffeth (3), Kirsten Naito (1), Jessica Fyles (1), & Lydia Durand (1).
Cons: Val Griffeth (11).

It's playoff time and there was no quarter given by the Vassar women as they were like an onrushing tidal wave battering the Rutgers players. Thirteen tries in a 60 minute game takes some doing but with the likes of Larkin Sealy, Dana Wasserman, and Val Griffeth providing pace on the outside this was the closest rugby comes to a track meet!

The Vassar team has not played as a unit recently due to injury, availability, and selections that have split the squad but with the NRU championship on the horizon it was time to get the team to gel. It'll perhaps be enough to say that there was not a lineout in the first half and probably more time was spent watching conversion kicks than any other aspect of the game!

Team: 15 Valerie Griffeth 14 Dana Wasserman 13 Lydia Durand 12 Sarah Turbett 11 Larkin Sealy 10 Julia Rosen 9 Julie Half 1 Jess Fyles 2 Vanessa Chang 3 Nora Weiss 4 Kirsten Naito 5 Sari Warren 6 Killian Dykes 7 Emerald Garvey 8 Darcy Nelson Subs: Nadia Brittingham for Dana Wasserman, Emily Dorman for Julie Half, Vanessa Morris for Darcy Nelson, Amber Hawkes for Killian Dykes.

Vassar College Women "B" 7 v Marist College Women "A" 5
Tries: Sarah Griffin (1).
Cons: Jess Werner (1).

The Vassar College Women took the place of Stony Brook and played local rivals Marist and produced a hard fought victory scoring and converting a try while Marist scored 1 try early that had given them the lead. This was a very difficult game for the Vassar team as they were constantly having to deal with offside players. The referee was more than leniant and it meant that whenever ball was won Marist fringers were there to pounce on the receiver! But the youngsters battled long and hard and when Sarah Griffin sprinted up the middle of the field and was bundled over near the posts a try was awarded. Fellow rookie Jess Werner kicked the conversion and that was to prove the difference.

Team: 15 Danielle Bayar 14 Ai Ito 13 Jess Johnson 12 Sarah Griffin 11 Jasmine Harris 10 Jess Werner 9 Amanda Scott 1 Sarah Powelson 2 Hannah Van Winkle 3 Kat Edmundson 4 Amy Rubin 5 Marissa Barela 6 Gauri Goyal 7 Amber Hawkes 8 Vanessa Morris Subs: Jess Fyles for Kat Edmundson
