VASSAR DEFEATS HUNTER 2-0 IN MEN'S SOCCER
Malinowski, Petruccelli score as Brewers improve to
7-3
Sophomore defender Nate Malinowski (Livonia Center,
N.Y.) scored his first career goal midway through the first half when he took a
pass from Petruccelli and fired a shot from the middle of the box that beat
Hunter goalkeeper Ricardo Mesquita (Bellerose, N.Y.) for a 1-0 Brewer lead.
Petruccelli put the game away with less than three
minutes remaining in regulation when he blasted a direct kick from the left
side outside of the box that beat Mesquita for the goal.
Vassar (7-3) outshot the Hawks 28-4 for the match.
Mesquita had 12 saves for Hunter (2-7-3). Senior Paul Connors (No. Andover,
Mass.) recorded his third solo shutout of the season, making three saves for
Vassar.
Vassar hosts John Jay at noon on Saturday at Prentiss.
