VASSAR ADVANCES TO POSTSEASON WITH A 2-0 WIN OVER RPI

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. - Sophomore midfielder Aldis Butler and senior forward Chris Schreiber (Newton, Mass.) each scored goals to lead Vassar College to a 2-0 win over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Saturday afternoon in a UCAA men's soccer game at Prentiss Field.

Butler gave Vassar the lead with less than seven minutes remaining in the first half, when he converted an Aaron Ancel (Montpelier, Vt./senior) cross for the goal.

Schreiber put the game away with five minutes remaining in the game when he took a Francesco Galetto (Bethesda, Md./freshman) throw-in and beat Rensselaer goalie Kenny Guzzardo (Medford, N.Y./senior) for the score.

"We tried to put a system in place to make it difficult for teams to play against us," head coach James Franklin said after the win. "The hard work that our players put into practice resulted in hard work and good play here today."

Junior Paul Connors (No. Andover, Mass.) made three saves to record the shutout for the Brewers (11-6, 4-3 UCAA), who advance to the UCAA postseason tournament, which will be held at Saint Lawrence University next weekend.

Guzzardo made four saves for the Engineers (7-5-2, 2-3-3 UCAA).
