VASSAR ROLLS 7-0 OVER OLD WESTBURY IN MEN'S SOCCER
Butler nets hat trick as Brewers improve to 4-0

 

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Junior forward Aldis Butler (Larkspur, Calif.) scored three goals to lead the men's soccer team to a 7-0 non-conference victory over SUNY Old Westbury Saturday afternoon at Prentiss Field.


Butler scored two of his goals in the first half for Vassar, as the Brewers led 4-0 at halftime. Senior midfielder Joseph Petruccelli (Flushing, N.Y.) added a pair of goals for Vassar. The Brewers outshot Old Westbury 24-3 for the game and have outscored their opponents 24-1 this season.

 

Freshmen forwards Avery Green-Spector (Upper Montclair, N.J.) and Joe DelVecchio (Scarsdale, N.Y.) tacked on a goal a piece for Vassar (4-0).

 

Seniors Paul Connors (No. Andover, Mass.) and Alex Parra (Flushing, N.Y.) combined for the shutout with Connors making all three saves. Sergio Marin stopped 12 of 19 shots for Old Westbury (1-8).

 

Vassar begins conference play Friday afternoon at Hamilton College. Gametime is 4 p.m.
