Perez scores three,
Peo sets up all four goals to lead Pioneers

 

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Sophomore midfielder Johanna Perez (San Francisco, Calif.) scored three goals and sophomore forward Catherine Peo (Stow, Mass.) added four assists to lead Smith College to a 4-0 non-conference women's soccer victory over Vassar College Saturday afternoon at Prentiss Field.


Vassar (0-1) trailed 1-0 at the half as Perez scored with one minute remaining. The game remained 1-0 until junior defender Laura Leitkowski (Uncasville, Conn.) scored midway through the second half to make it 2-0. Perez tacked on two more goals late in the frame for the 4-0 final.

 

Sophomore Heather Jaffe (Belle Mead, N.J.) made 14 saves for Vassar. Sophomore Catherine Miller-Little (Shaker Heights, Ohio) collected ten saves for Smith (1-2-1).

 

Vassar resumes non-conference play Wednesday afternoon at 4:00 against SUNY New Paltz.
