VASSAR DEFEATS FLORHAM 2-1

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. ‚ Junior midfielder Elizabeth Keehner (Rocky Hill, Conn.) broke a 1-1 tie with a goal midway through the second half to lift Vassar College to a 2-1 non-conference victory over FDU-Florham in women's soccer action Monday afternoon at Prentiss Field.

Freshman midfielder Ashley Willhite (Royalston, Mass.) gave the Brewers a 1-0 lead one minute into the second half, when she beat junior goalkeeper Lindsay Strubbe (Marlboro, N.J.) off a direct kick.

Junior forward Lauren Estrada (Odenton, Md.) tied the game up 17 minutes later when she converted a Gaz Khosravi (Marlboro, N.J./senior) indirect kick for the goal. Just three minutes later at the 66:21 mark, senior forward Courtney Mersereau (Portland, Ore.) carried the ball up the left side and sent a cross into Keehner who one-timed a shot past Strubbe for the game-winning goal.

Freshman goalkeeper Heather Jaffe (Belle Mead, N.J.) made seven saves for Vassar (4-10-1). Strubbe and senior Cristina Ramos (South River, N.J.) combined to make ten saves for the Devils (12-5).
