HENKEL SCORES THREE TO LIFT NYU PAST VASSAR
Brewers remain winless in women's soccer, fall 3-0

 

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Senior forward Lauren Henkel (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) scored three goals to lead New York University to a 3-0 non-conference women's soccer victory over Vassar College Saturday afternoon at Prentiss Field.


Henkel scored less than seven minutes into the contest when she converted a Jennifer Farkas (Plano, Texas) pass for the goal. She added breakaway goals at 28:48 and 79:37 for the hat trick. The Violets outshot the Brewers 21-4 for the contest.

 

Freshman Lisa Strumwasser (Malibu, Calif.) made six saves for Vassar (0-3). Sophomore Alison Myers (Bellevue, Wash.) and senior Becca Giefer (Mahtomedi, Minn.) combined for one save and the shutout. NYU improves to 3-4.

 

Vassar resumes non-conference play Wednesday afternoon at Manhattanville at 4:00.
