SMITH TAKES OVERTIME TO DEFEAT BREWERS 2-1

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. -- Catherine Peo scored two minutes into overtime to defeat Vassar College 2-1 in women's soccer action Saturday afternoon.
Shannon Carroll broke a scoreless tie midway through the second half on an assist by sophomore forward Sarah Combs (Anchorage, Alaska). The Pioneers tied it up less than a minute later on a shot by freshman Ellie Loomis (Mountain View, Calif.) that sailed over freshman goalkeeper Heather Jaffe's (Belle Mead, N.J.) outstretched hands. Vassar held Smith to a tie going into overtime before Smith's Catherine Peo (Stow, Mass.) broke out of the pack to score the winner on a cross from freshman Johanna Perez (San Francisco, Calif.).
Jaffe made nine saves for the Brewers (1-2 overall). Monica Jarman and Catherine Miller combined to make five saves for the Pioneers (3-1 overall).
