Poughkeepsie, N.Y. -- Sophomore forward Sarah Combs (Anchorage, Alaska)
scored four goals to lead Vassar College to a 9-0 win over Bard College
in women’s soccer action Tuesday afternoon.
Combs staked the Brewers to a 6-0 first-half lead with three goals.
Senior forward Courtney Mersereau (Portland, Ore.) added two goals
and two assists in the first half. Junior defender Heather Zaimes
(La Canada, Calif.), junior forward Lindsey Pilver (Manchester, Conn.)
and sophomore midfielder Margaret Daniel (Tyler, Texas) also added
goals for the Brewers, who outshot the Raptors 36-0 for the game.
Freshman Alice England (Salt Lake City, Utah) recorded the shutout, despite having
not faced a shot. Sophomore Mara Bond had 12 saves for Bard, 1-2 overall. With
the win, Vassar improves to 2-2.
