Duo accounts for all of VC's goals as
Brewers pick up first win of season

 

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. --Junior forward Sarah Combs (Anchorage, Alaska) scored two goals and freshman midfielder Kate Bossange (Saratoga, Calif.) added a goal and an assist to lead Vassar College to a 4-0 non-conference women's soccer victory over Mount Saint Mary College Monday evening.

 

Combs scored an unassisted goal 11 minutes in. Senior forward Lindsey Pilver (Murietta, Calif.) headed a shot into the back of the net off of a Bossange corner kick less than a minute later.

 

Sophomore midfielder Ashley Willhite (Royalston, Mass.) set up the third Vassar goal of the game when she fed Combs for the breakaway goal. Bossange made it 4-0 with just five minutes left when she converted a pass by junior midfielder Maggie Daniel (Tyler, Texas).

 

Vassar outshot Mount Saint Mary 35-4 for the game. Sophomore goalkeepers Heather Jaffe (Belle Mead, N.J.) and Alice England (Salt Lake City, Utah) combined to make four saves for Vassar (1-7). Julia Ashworth made 13 saves for Mount Saint Mary.

 

Vassar resumes conference play Friday afternoon at Union College. Gametime is 4 p.m.
