Vassar's Office of Sports Information promotes and publicizes, on both a national and international level, each of Vassar's 23 intercollegiate sports that compete on the Division III level as a member of the newly-named Liberty League. Sports Information's primary responsibility is to disseminate information to members of both the print and electronic media as well institutions that Vassar competes against. Among Sports Information's many varied duties are press/media relations, editorial releases and feature stories, game and special event programs, newsletters, statistical maintenance and record keeping, web-content management and collaborative work with Vassar's Office of College Relations.

Robin Jonathan Deutsch
Longtime sports marketer
and journalist Robin Jonathan Deutsch joined Vassar as Sports Information Director
in August 2004, following a national search for candidates. Most recently Deutsch
was the Director of New Media and Information Services for the Naismith Memorial
Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, MA (2000-2005), where he had worked
since 1991. At the Hall of Fame, Deutsch was also Director of Marketing &
Public Relations (1991-2000), responsible for all marketing, public relations,
publishing, advertising and admission initiatives. During his time at the Hall
of Fame, Deutsch developed the Hall's first-ever Web site in 1997 and subsequent
versions up until 2004. During his tenure at the Hall of Fame, he earned a dozen
Best In The Nation citations from CoSida, the national organization
of Sports Information Directors, for excellence in publications and writing.
He currently serves as a Publications Coordinator for CoSida. A former Board
member of the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA), Deutsch
has been a columnist for Basketball Times and Eastern Basketball
Magazine since 1982. A 1983 graduate of Northeastern University in Boston,
MA, Deutsch began his career as Director of Sports Information at St. Joseph's
University in Philadelphia (1983-86), and then joined the New York Times Magazine
Group as an Editor with Tennis Magazine (1986-1991). He and his wife
Theresa have a young daughter Jessica Ann, and live in LaGrange, NY.
