Team improves to 19-3, breaks school record for wins

 

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Senior Alexis Neider (Shelton, Conn.) picked up wins at #2 singles and #1 doubles to lead Vassar College to a 9-0 women's tennis victory over William Smith College Sunday afternoon.

 

Vassar improves to 19-3, a school record for wins in a season. Neider and junior Jessica Shofler (Toluca Lake, Calif.) won the closest match of the day in doubles, defeating Karen Newbury and Molly Patterson 9-8. Neider defeated Patterson 6-3, 6-0 in singles.

 

Junior Diya Uberoi (Princeton, N.J.) won at #1 singles 6-0, 6-3 over Newbury.

 

Vassar finishes its season Saturday, April 19th at home at noon against conference-rival Skidmore College.
