9th-RANKED NYU DOWNS VASSAR 3-0 IN VOLLEYBALL
Violets remain undefeated at 24-0

 

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Sophomore setter Katya Khmelnitskaya (Addison, Ill.) tallied a triple-double (14 kills, 10 digs, and 38 assists) to lead ninth-ranked New York University to a 3-1 women's volleyball victory over Vassar College Wednesday evening at Kenyon Hall.

 

Freshman blocker Elena Drinka (San Antonio, Texas) added 12 kills and nine blocks as NYU improved to 24-0 on the season.

 

Senior hitter McKenzie Johnson (Phoenix, Ariz.) led Vassar with 13 kills and 12 digs. Sophomore Anita Stavin (Clifton Park, N.Y.) chipped in 10 kills and 11 digs as the Brewers dropped to 13-6 overall.

 

Vassar kept pace with the Violets throughout the match, including a win in the first game 30-28. It was just the fifth time that a team has avoided a shutout by the Violets.

 

NYU took the next three games by scores of 30-27, 30-18, and 30-27
